Yang Style Tai Chi

  1. Office Tai Chi ( 8 Form Tai Chi Font verion)

Eight-Form Tai Chi (Ba Shi Taijiquan) – also known as "Level One Routine" – is an assessment form for the initial Duan grade of the Chinese Wushu Duanwei System. Created by the China Wushu Research Institute in 1997, it draws exclusively on the eight most essential foundational movements from the large-frame Yang-style Tai Chi.

The full routine consists of 10 postures (including Opening and Closing), incorporating classic techniques such as Rolling Arms, Brush Knee and Twist Step, Parting the Wild Horse's Mane, Cloud Hands, Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg, Heel Kick, Grasp the Sparrow's Tail, and Cross Hands. Performed predominantly in continuous bow stances, the movements are spacious, graceful, and fluid, flowing like drifting clouds and running water.

Compact and easy to learn, the routine requires little space and takes about two minutes to complete. Regular practice helps cultivate mind-body harmony, strengthen health, and build physical fitness – making it an ideal starting point for beginners to experience the essence of Tai Chi and embark on their wellness journey.

Based on a set of Tai Chi movements, I created two versions to help American students learn more easily: the first version moves forward, and the second one is performed sideways. Building upon the original sequence, which was done once, I added two repetitions to each movement—making it three repetitions in total—to facilitate learning and practice.
